The Model

The 935 was the ultimate development of the 911. In 1976 a single turbocharger helped the wildly modified flat-6 put out 590 bhp at 7,900 rpm. For short races, a higher turbo boost yielded well over 600 bhp! The end result was one of the most competitive sports racers in the history of motorsport; 5 world championships and 32 major victories between 1976 and 1981, including Le Mans and Daytona.

Exoto has captured the soul of this legendary racer in a beautiful 1:18 replica featuring the uniquely agressive 'whale tail', square back aerodynamic body style, and 'slant nose' treatment. Under the detachable hood is an unprecedented level of detail in the fuel cell, fuel hoses, battery, and more! A fully wired and plumbed turbo-charged flat-6 Boxer motor fills the compact engine bay.

The Original

Porsche 935 Turbo1977 Le Mans 24 Hours, JMS Racing "X-Ray" Driven by Claude Ballot-Lιna & Peter Gregg.

A victory in the Group 5 class is an impressive result by any standards. Even more impressive is the fact that the JMS Racing "X-Ray" Porsche 935 finished third overall, just 16 laps behind the second-place Renault and 27 laps behind the race winning Martini Porsche 936/77 prototype entries!

In fact, the "X-Ray" 935 may well have secured outright victory had it not suffered a great deal of trouble: brake problems, fuel injector pump, and a turbocharger that needed to be replaced! The French and American duo of Ballot-Lιna and Gregg drove a stunning race to secure themselves a third in distance, covering 2,676.57 miles over the full 24 hours at an average speed of 111.52mph.

In the same race, the Kremer Porsche 934 also earned Porsche a Group 4 victory in addition to the overall and Group 5 successes. JMS Racing also competed in Group 4 with their "X-Ray" 934.
