The Original

To stay on the pace with the ever growing competition, Ferrari prepared an evolution of the 375 MM for 1954. Deceivingly dubbed 375 Plus, the new car in fact packed an engine displacing close to five litres. Three cars were prepared by the works for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Only one car finished, but it did so in first position, recording the marque's second victory in the legendary race and the first for the works team. With the help of privately entered 375 MMs, Ferrari also managed to win the Sports Car World Championship.

Featured is the first 375 Plus constructed and one of six fitted with a Pinin Farina designed coachwork. It was campaigned briefly by the works team, before it was sold to the United States where it continued its career quite successfully. After a tumultuous life, the car was restored/reconstructed in the 1990s and today occasionally makes competitive appearances in the hands of Belgian historic racer Philippe Lanckswaert.
