BMW M3 DTM K. Thiim Winner Eifelrenner DTM 1988
The BMW M3 a product of BMW Motorsport GmbH, was the first BMW since the M1 to be built for homologation. The engine was an inline-4, derived from the old M10 that also spwned the F1 powerplant.
The M3 engine features two chain driven cams and four valves per cylinder. In the racing version, a rollover cage was made up of no less than 25 metres of steel tubing and all importand suspension components were bolted to this rollover cage.
