The Original

VW 1600 L Variant 1970

In 1961 VW presented the new VW 1500 at the Franckfort Car Show. While retaining the proved and sturdy VW concept from the Bettle, VW designed a larger saloon car to enter the middle class car market. The car also came as a break called 'Variant'

In 1965 followed a new, more aggressive, liftback version the 'TL'. In August 1969, VW Undertook a major facelift on its now named VW1600. The car was now longer with revised front and rear bumbers. The production stopped in July 1971 with a total of 2,6 millions units produced.
