Next to the highly successful small limousines of the 02 series, at beginning of 1971, BMW introduced a sation wagon edition called "touring". Those models offered some advantages which harmonized very well with the known 02 virtue - performance and sports style. Without doubt, with the "touring", BMW in-corporated the atumobilr catagory of lifestyle station wagons: a present=day automobile program would be unthinkable without it.
Opposed to all other competitors in the market rather than emphasizing on storage capability, BMW focued on practicanility. Yet the time was obviously not ripe yet, as by far these cars didn't sell as expected and had a shadowy existence inthe BMW program. Finally the series was already removed from the program as early as 1974.
