The Original

The S2000 is based on the Honda SSM concept car that first appeared at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show the designers were inspired by Honda's first sportscar the S600. The type designation is chosen in he same way as the S600, the S600 had a 600 cc engine and the new S2000 has a 2000cc engine.This engine has the highest power to displacement ratio of any production car, almost 125bhp/litre. It features Hondas famous VTEC, variable valve timing: beneath 5000 rpm the engine produces +/- 125 bhp but when the 5000 rpm are passed the full 240bhp really kick in. The S2000 is Honda's birthday present for themself to celebrate their 50th birthday.
