The Original

Ferrari Dino 156 F1 "Sharknose" ,1961

By January 1, 1961 many rule sin Formula 1 had changed. According to the new rules only naturally aspirated engines with a maximum displacement of 1,500 ccs were alowed to compete. These drastic rule alterations put an end to the front engine F1 era, and the age of the mid mounted engines had begun.

With the new rules in mind, Ferrari developed the dino 156 F1. What they created was a piece of masterful workmanship with the V6 mid engine design. One of the most remarkable highlights of this new race car was its aerodynamic aluminium body with the prominent "Sharknose" front air inlets that made it unforgettable and famous all around the world.

The 1961 season became known as the great duel between two Ferari stable mates: Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips and the American Phil Hill. Beside their incredible driving skills, both race drivers owe their successes to the predominant performances of the Dino 156. At the season's end, Phil Hill had finally become the first American Formula 1 World Champion. The German Wolfgang Graf berghe von Trips, who had the championship nearly within his grasp, fell victiom to a deadly racing accident in Monza. CMC has now created an unmatchable miniature in scale 1:18.

CMC offer three different versions of models. They differ(beside the starting numbers 4,3 and 2) in a lot of small details. Each of those three models is limited to 6,000 pieces.
