BMW M3 Sport Evolution 'Cecotto' EditionTo celebrate the competition victories of factory driver, Johnny Cecotto, BMW launched a special version of the E30 M3 in 1989 that was named in his honor.
This model introduced the 215-bhp version of the 2.3-liter S14 catalytic engine with 170 lb/ft of torque. All M3 Cecottos were painted Misano Red, Macao Blue metallic or Nogaro Silver metallic and carried the Evolution II front and rear spoilers. They were further distinguished by their 7.5x16-inch BBS wheels with special black paint.
On the inside, the Cecotto version had the half leather Motorsport seats, an on-board computer, an illuminated gear knob, special doorsill plates with a color 'M3' insignia and a serial numbered plaque on the center console that displayed Johnny Cecotto's signature. A total of 480 M3 Cecottos were built for European markets except the UK.
