The Original

Developed by BMW Motorsport GmbH in 1984, the M-for-Motorsport 635CSi housed a 286 bhp version of the 24-valve 3.5 litre engine first seen in the M1. In the US the cars were usually dubbed "M6",although that badge was not officially recognised in Europe. The M635 gave BMW a 150 mph coupe that could prowl the Porsche-infested autobahns with pride. It was the first time that BMW had adopted the Michelin TRX matrix 390mm tyres fitted to 2-piece alloy wheels. The car had standard Recaro front seats and a deeper front spoiler.
