The Original

The name Murcielago was found in Los Toros, an 11-volume encyclopedia devoted to every aspect of bullfighting, to maintain Lamborghini tradition of naming its cars with words connected to the world of corrida: Miura, Urraco, Bravo, Jalpa and Espada. Los Toros tells the story of a bull named Murcielago. In October 1879, Murcielago sustained 24 sword strokes during a bullfight and still stood his ground. So bravely did he fight that the Cordoba crowd insisted the matador spare its life. The owner of the bull then sold Murcielago to Don Antonio Miura. He went on to mate with 70 cows and became the grandfather of a range of Miura bulls.
The car is powered by a 6.3-litre V12, producing 426KW with 650Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 second and the top speed is 330 km/h plus.
